Merv Mauthe Music Services offers a comprehensive seminar and workshop program for both teachers and students. Different types of sessions can be organized, ranging from beginner seminars that help you better understand the T.M.A. course and related teaching methods and materials, to more advanced sessions on virtually any subject relating to the program or contemporary music education in general. Workshops on pop music techniques, technology and master classes for students as well as teachers are also available.

Merv Mauthe: author of the program has had over 30 years experience in the field of contemporary music education, and has been instrumental in providing teacher training and guidance for all countries that teach the program.

Exams

Exams are a very important part of any learning process. Students can be examined on their performance skills, theoretical knowledge and overall musicianship based on the course objectives for each grade.

T.M.A. exams are available for each level of the program. The student receives a written critique from the Examiner. The exam system not only challenges the student on their playing ability and musical comprehension, but also builds confidence and provides a sense of accomplishment. Each exam is divided into the following areas:

  • Performance
  • Technique
  • Arranging and Creativity
  • Theory (Written)
  • Ear Tests (Aural)
  • Sight Reading
  • Overall Musicianship
